The Utrechtse Muziekacademie Chamber Orchestra is an orchestra of about 25 string players and 12 woodwinds and brass. Members of the orchestra are (young) professionals and university graduates from Holland and abroad. Marco Bons has been our conductor since the establishment of the UMA chamber orchestra in 1994.
We study three different concert programs during the course of the year. Two performances are scheduled per concert program. In addition, our orchestra gives an open air Classical Night Concert at the end of every summer with the added support from music graduates, invited performers and occasionally a choir.
The rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 20:00–22:30. Each program has some additional weekend day rehearsals scheduled. After the rehearsal there is a get-together in pub-café De Vooghel.
Contact one of our representatives! String players can always attend a rehearsal as a try-out. Participation of woodwind and brass instrumentalists is dependent upon existing vacancies. Auditioning is required for new members. The membership fee is E165, for students half price.
